WB: NGO worker's house set on fire over rumour of collecting NRC data
An NGO worker's house was set on fire over rumours that she was collecting people's information for the National Register of Citizens (NRC). The incident occurred in West Bengal's Birbhum. The 20-year-old NGO worker named Chumki Khatoon was there to provide training to women of the village for better usage of mobile phones. However, her activity was misunderstood as being linked to NRC data collection.
