MP News: Women in Burhanpur make hats out of banana fibre to beat the heat this summer | ABP News

With the mercury rising across the country, women in the Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh are making hats out of banana fibre to protect against the intense heat. The fibres are derived from plants that are discarded by farmers after bananas have been harvested. Various other products, like baskets, bags, coasters, etc; are also crafted from banana fibre and are sold to help the women earn a livelihood.  Many women who are part of this initiative have empowered themselves and improved their financial standing with the help of banana fibre.
