J&K: Indefinite internet ban 'unconstitutional’, review all restrictions, says SC
Supreme Court on Friday ordered the government to review all the restrictive orders in Jammu and Kashmir, while delivering verdict on petitions on situation in the Union Territory after abrogation of Article 370. The court said ''Kashmir has seen a lot of violence. We will try our best to balance the human rights and freedoms with the issue of security''.
"There is no doubt that freedom of speech is an essential tool in a democratic set up. Freedom of internet access is a fundamental right under Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution," the court said.
