Launched on February 15, 2024, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the PM Surya Ghar scheme aims to offer up to 300 units of free electricity per month to approximately 1 crore families across the country. Under this initiative, the government provides subsidies for solar panel purchases: Rs 30,000 for a 1 kW panel, Rs 60,000 for a 2 kW panel, and up to Rs 78,000 for a 3 kW panel. This move is designed to promote the adoption of solar energy and support households in reducing their electricity costs.
