Tragedy Strikes in Uttarakhand As Passenger Bus Plunges into Abyss | ABP News
A major road accident occurred on Monday in Almora, Uttarakhand, where a passenger bus fell into a gorge near Marchula. It is reported that there were a total of 45 people on board the bus, with the disaster management department confirming the deaths of 20 individuals, while 20 others are receiving treatment for their injuries. Following the accident, chaos erupted in the area as rescue teams began their operations. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Almora has also left for the scene, with police teams from three districts arriving on-site, alongside six teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) that have already set out for the location. According to reports, 15 of the injured have been sent to a higher medical center for treatment. The death toll may rise, as SSP Almora Devendra Pincha indicated that the figure could reach double digits. Many bodies are still trapped inside the bus, and efforts are underway to cut the bus open to retrieve them. The rescue operation is ongoing. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his sorrow over the incident on social media platform X. He stated that he received the extremely distressing news of the unfortunate bus accident in Marchula, Almora, and directed the district administration to expedite the relief and rescue operations. He noted that local administration and SDRF teams are working swiftly to rescue the injured and transport them to the nearest healthcare facility. Additionally, he instructed that seriously injured passengers may be airlifted if necessary.
