Sri Lanka Economic Crisis: Protestors target government supporters | ABP News
Sri Lanka experienced its bloodiest day in weeks on Monday, when Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa resigned and confrontations erupted across the country, killing at least five people and injuring over 200. According to reports, governing party lawmaker Amarakeerthi Athukorala shot and killed a 27-year-old man before killing himself as the country remained tense due to an economic crisis. For decades, the Rajapaksas have been the most dominant political family in the South Asian nation, but their current economic difficulties have evolved into a political quagmire. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has also been called to resign.
