Sri Lanka Economic Crisis: India extends $1-billion line of credit; Lankans express gratitude
INDIA granted a $1 billion loan facility to Sri Lanka on Thursday. A country that is in the middle of a severe economic crisis brought on by a currency shortage. According to an agreement reached between the two countries on Thursday during the visit of Sri Lankan Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa, the "short term concessional lending facility" will be supplied by State Bank of India. The signing was attended by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
