Onions have left customers teary-eyed as prices of the staple continue to soar in various parts of the country. With the exponentially high prices of the bulb, it is now surprisingly being placed with other commodities like gold and silver at jewelry shops in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi. The farmers have suffered huge crop losses due to floods and hence supplies have shrunk, resulting in a sharp price rise.
