Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul, and Priyanka Gandhi Set to Attend Omar Abdullah's Oath Ceremony

Today, October 16, 2024, marks a significant day in Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape. National Conference leader Omar Abdullah is set to take the oath as the first Chief Minister of the Union Territory, following the abrogation of Article 370. However, just ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, the Congress party made a major decision. The party has announced that it will not be a part of the Omar Abdullah-led government, although it will continue to extend its support from the outside. This move comes after the National Conference and Congress formed an alliance in the recent assembly elections, securing victory together. Omar Abdullah’s swearing-in ceremony will take place at 11:30 AM at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC), with Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha administering the oath to Abdullah and his ministers. Prominent Congress leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, will attend the ceremony. However, Congress’s decision not to join the government has surprised many, coming just hours before the event.
