Prime Minister Narendra Modi filed for the nomination after seeking the blessings at the Kaal Bhairav Temple in the city. Ahead of filing nomination papers, PM Modi also shared a 'Varanasi Report Card' on his X account, where he wrote: "My relationship with my Kashi is amazing, inseparable and incomparable… all I can say is that it cannot be expressed in words!"

The list of PM Modi's proposers includes Pandit Ganeshwar Shastri, Baijnath Patel, Lalchand Kushwaha, and Sanjay Sonakar. Shastri belongs to the Brahmin community and is the one who decided the auspicious time for the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
