He said, "Around 1 AM, when approximately 500-1000 people arrived, we tried to lock the gate, but they broke it open. We went to another gate, but they smashed that too. There were too many of them; we were only 10-12 people, and we couldn't handle it without police assistance. They damaged everything, from computers to medicines, and even destroyed the CCTV cameras." At RG Kar Medical College, trainee doctors are often called in for night shifts in emergency situations. A distressing incident occurred when, on the night of August 8, a trainee doctor was found murdered in Kolkata. The body, discovered early the next morning, was in a horrific state—partially undressed, with severe injuries including bleeding from the eyes and mouth, and deep wounds in the private areas.
