Kolkata Doctor Death: When Will Kolkata's 'Nirbhaya' Get Justice? | ABP News

A mysterious death of a female doctor at R.G. Kar Medical College in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, has sparked significant political tension in the state. There is growing demand for a CBI investigation into the matter. In response, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Saturday, August 10, that her government is ready to have the case investigated by any agency. She stated that if the medical students and house staff demand a CBI probe, her government would agree to it. CM Mamata Banerjee emphasized, "We have nothing to hide in this case. Currently, the police have arrested one suspect, who will be presented in a fast-track court." She added that the government will seek the death penalty for those found guilty. However, if the protesting students prefer an investigation by an agency other than the police, her government is open to it. She reassured that there would be no issue if the CBI were to conduct the investigation.
