Kolkata Doctor Case: Brutal Assault Case from Kolkata Reaches High Court, Hearing Scheduled for Today

In Kolkata, the tragic death of a female trainee doctor found at a government hospital on August 9 has sparked ongoing protests by resident doctors for the fifth consecutive day. The doctor was brutally raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in the Shyambazar area. Her body was discovered on Friday, leading to the arrest of the accused by the police. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the victim's family on August 12, stating that if the police fail to resolve the case by Sunday, it will be handed over to the CBI. The protesting resident doctors are also demanding a CBI investigation into the case. Meanwhile, the BJP has criticized the Mamata government, claiming that law and order under her administration has deteriorated significantly.
