Many states in India are experiencing severe distress due to a shift from extreme heat to heavy rainfall. Over the past two to three days, heavy rain has hit various parts of the country, including Delhi, resulting in several fatalities. In Lonavala, Pune, five people, including a woman and four children, drowned near Bhushi Dam. The police and rescue team have recovered two bodies.
Heavy rain on June 30 caused severe waterlogging in cities like Ahmedabad and Surat.
On June 28, heavy rain in Delhi led to waterlogging in several areas, raising the death toll to 11.
The Meteorological Department predicts heavy rainfall in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from June 30 to July 4, 2024.
