Haryana Elections: INLD-HLP Alliance in Haryana, Will it Intensify Challenges for BJP and Congress?

Ahead of the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has solidified a significant political alliance with the Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP), led by Gopal Kanda. INLD, already in partnership with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), aims to strengthen its position with this new tie-up. Abhay Chautala, a prominent INLD leader, announced support for Gopal Kanda on the Sirsa seat, a strategic region for both parties. The alliance has caused a stir due to Kanda’s controversial past, which includes accusations in high-profile cases. Despite this, Kanda’s influence in the Sirsa constituency and beyond is expected to provide an electoral boost to INLD, which is trying to regain political ground in Haryana. Kanda, once aligned with the BJP, was sidelined when the BJP fielded a different candidate for Sirsa, leading him to ally with INLD instead. This partnership is seen as a tactical move to consolidate votes in Haryana's politically charged environment. Both parties are banking on their regional strengths and historical influence in the area. As the 2024 elections approach, this alliance may shape the dynamics of the state’s political landscape.
