The Election Commission is set to announce the dates for the Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly elections today, October 15. A press conference will be held at 3:30 PM, where the commission will outline the election phases and preparations. The Maharashtra Assembly’s term ends on November 26, while Jharkhand's term concludes on January 5, 2025. Preparations for the elections are complete, following the commission's recent visits to both states. In Maharashtra, a fierce contest is expected between the Maha Vikas Aghadi, comprising Congress, NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and UBT Shiv Sena, and the Mahayuti alliance, including BJP and the Shinde faction of Shiv Sena. Meanwhile, Jharkhand will see a battle between the INDIA alliance and NDA for all 81 assembly seats.
