Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi is set to take oath on Sunday for a historic third consecutive term, matching the record of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. The Modi 3.0 Oath Ceremony follows a series of intense consultations involving senior BJP leaders and allies regarding the distribution of ministerial positions in the new National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government. Union ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, along with BJP president J P Nadda, have been in discussions with key allies such as Telugu Desam Party's N Chandrababu Naidu, JD(U)'s Nitish Kumar, and Shiv Sena's Eknath Shinde. These talks aim to finalise the allocation of Cabinet positions among the NDA constituents. According to news agency PTI, sources indicate that the BJP will retain heavyweight portfolios like home, finance, defence, and external affairs, as well as education and culture, which have significant ideological importance. Allies are expected to receive between five and eight Cabinet berths.
