Pakistan's Prime Minister, Imran Khan, is the country's first to be toppled by a vote of no confidence. Khan, who stood firm "to the last ball," was overthrown late at night after a day of high drama in Pakistan's parliament. In the 342-member house, the united opposition, which included a rainbow of socialist, liberal, and deeply religious factions, got 174 votes, exceeding the minimum 172 votes to fire the Prime Minister. Shehbaz Sharif, who is anticipated to succeed Imran Khan as Prime Minister of Pakistan, praised the opposition's bravery, saying it is unusual in Pakistani politics.
