Amidst major changes in the country's aviation sector, there is good news. India is going to get another airline. Civil Aviation Ministry has approved the budget airline for Air Kerala. The UAE-based businessman Afi Ahmed is currently running Air Kerala, a regional airline that the Kerala government had proposed. Air Kerala is registered as a subsidiary of the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) under the owner firm Zettfly Aviation Airline Service. This is the result of the project being put on hold for a long time by the initial board of directors.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has granted the airline a No Objection Certificate (NOC). Before starting commercial operations, it must still go through the procedure of getting an Air Operator's Certificate (AOC).
