AAP responsible for delay in death penalty of Nirbhaya convicts: Smriti Irani
Smriti Irani on Friday blamed the ruling AAP government in Delhi for delay in commuting death sentence to the convicts for Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case. Speaking to media at a press conference, the union minister said that the review petition by Nirbhaya convicts was dismissed in July 2018.
"Why did Prisons department, which is under control of Delhi govt not issue notice unless Nirbhaya's mother started publicly asking for the death penalty," she asked.
