Cervical Cancer Awareness: Jyotsna Govil Emphasizes Importance Of HPV Vaccination And Hygiene | Health Live

In a recent discussion, Jyotsna Govil, Chairperson of the Indian Cancer Society Delhi Branch, shed light on the critical topic of cervical cancer. She emphasized that while this form of cancer remains hidden and seldom discussed, it poses a significant health risk. Cervical cancer is largely preventable, yet it claims numerous lives daily. Govil highlighted the essential role of proper genital hygiene and access to toilets, which is often lacking in many areas, as a primary concern. She also addressed the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) as a major contributing factor to this cancer. Vaccination against HPV, ideally administered between the ages of 9 to 14, is crucial for prevention. Govil urged that awareness and education are vital for combating this hidden threat to women's health.
