Up to 4,140 candidates are running for the 288 Maharashtra assembly seats that will be up for election on November 20. November 4 was the last day to withdraw nominations. The counting will occur on November 23, but the polling will be conducted in one phase on November 20. "For 288 seats, we received 7,078 valid nomination applications. 4,140 candidates remain in the race after 2,938 of them withdrew their nominations, according to a state chief electoral office official.
