In the Lok Sabha elections of 2019, Hina Shahab was in the electoral fray from Siwan with an RJD ticket. Meanwhile, Kavita Singh, the wife of Ajay Singh, contested the elections with a JD(U) ticket. At that time, Hina Shahab had lost the elections while contesting with the RJD ticket, and Kavita Singh, contesting with the JD(U) ticket, had won the elections, becoming the first female MP of Siwan.
