Recently, SEBI has proposed to simplify the regulations for becoming a registered Investment Advisor (IA) and Research Analyst. A consultation paper has been released to make registration easier and reduce clearance costs. The new proposals include relaxing requirements related to net worth, qualifications, and experience for investment advisors and research analysts. According to the consultation paper, the minimum qualification requirement has been lowered from a postgraduate degree to a graduate degree.
