Union Budget 2024: Indore students demand subsidies, more investment in education sector
With less than a week remaining until the Union budget is presented, students in Indore are calling for subsidies and lower GST rates in the educational sector, decrying the burden of high taxes. Students from rural areas who come to Indore for higher studies lament that they are taxed on almost everything, despite having minimal sources of income. Some students noted that admission into IITs has been scarce in recent years, with few opportunities available and sought increased funds from the government for the education sector. Students in Indore are optimistic as the first budget of the new NDA government will be tabled on July 23rd by union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who incidentally will be presenting her seventh consecutive budget.
