After AP’s Chandrababu Naidu, Mamata Banerjee bars CBI from entering West Bengal
In a new addition in the sensational decision where the Andhra Pradesh government on Friday withdrew the ' General Consent ' orders prohibiting the entry of the CBI officials into the State for any kind of inquiry against the employees and officers of the Central government institutions, the Mamata Banerjee government in Bengal has also withdrawn the 1989 ‘general consent order’ accorded to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to exercise its authority in the state.
This means the CBI sleuths will have to now seek prior permission before entering the state for official work or carry out operations when directed by a court.
