U-turn on interest rates due to elections? | Samvidhan Ki Shapath (1 April 2021)

The central government on Thursday (April 1) withdrew its decision to reduce the interest rate on small savings for the April-June quarter. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman shared a tweet to infirm about the same. She received flak from the opposition for changing her decision. Interest rates on Public Provident Fund (PPF), Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY), National Savings Certificate were cut by 6.4 per cent, 6.9 per cent and 5.9 per cent respectively on an annual basis.
