Woman Shares Post About Avocados Being Cheaper Than Tomatoes, Internet Is Stunned

Heavy rain in several parts of the country has led to prices of tomatoes to skyrocket. The kitchen essential commodity is selling between Rs 200-250 per kilogramme in the retail market, thus weighing heavily on people's finances. Restaurants and food manufacturers are also bearing the brunt of the rising prices. Amid the soaring prices, avocados, considered to be costly are now replacing tomatoes in Indian households.

A person recently took to social media to share the comparison of prices of tomoatoes and avocados. The user also shared a screenshot of the prices of both the items mention on an an e-commerce platform

"It's just a time in the economy when making avocado toast for breakfast is cheaper than dosa and tomato chutney," read the caption of the post shared by subiii on the microblogging site Twitter.

Since being shared the post has amassed close to 20,000 views, 246 likes and good number of comments.

"I'm actually jealous that you get an avocado for around 50 bucks. Cheapest I've seen till date," commented one user on the post.

"was thinking exactly the same thing when i ordered avocado today and glanced at tomato’s price," wrote another user.

"remember that one time we tried to get an avocado and it was 500 rupees," commented a third user on seeing the viral post
