'Dandiya Kerala Style': Shashi Tharoor Shares Video Of Folk Dance Resembling Dandiya. WATCH

Navratri, the 9-day-long festival dedicated to Maa Durga's nine avatars is being observed across the country with great fervour. One of the main attractions of the festival is Garba, a vibrant dance form originating in Gujarat. People gather in large groups, dressed in traditional attire, and Garba beats with colourful dandiya sticks in hands. Senior Congress leader and member of Parliament, Shashi Tharoor recently shared a shared a video of a folk dance from Kerala that resembles like dandiya-garba.

Shared on the microblogging site X, formerly Twitter, the clip shared by Tharoor shows a group of women wearing Kasavu sarees - traditional Kerala off-white sarees - and dancing with each other using sticks that look like dandiya sticks.

''Attention Gujarati sisters! This Navaratri, check out dandiya Kerala style!'," reads the caption of the post shared by the Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram.

Since being shared, the clip has amassed over 6 lakh views, 8,307 likes and tons of comments.

"Its same, only our sticks are smaller, grace is same, fun is same :)," commented one user on the post.

"Wow, this looks fascinating! Reminds me of Dandiya. What's the name of this dance in Kerala?," wrote another user.

"Something absolutely new and entertaining to watch," wrote a third user.
