Quitting a high-paying job is never easy. But an IIT (Indian Institutes of Technology) graduate from Kharagpur did exactly that. He quit his job in order to spend time with his newborn daughter.
Ankit Joshi in an interview with Humans of Bombay said that he quit as Senior Vice President from the company he had joined a few months back even before his daughter was born in order to help out his wife being a new mom and spend time with his child.
“A few days before my daughter was born, I quit my high paying job. I know it was a bizarre decision," said Joshi.
He also said that his friends and colleagues warned him against the decision but he decided to quit due to the support of his wife.
"People said, You know how difficult it’s gonna be now? But my wife Akanksha stood with me & that was all that mattered," the long Instagram post shared by Humans of Bombay read.
Joshi goes on to explain that his new job required him to travel frequently and that taking a long break from the company to spend time with his daughter Spiti would not have been possible.

"I wanted a longer break after Spiti’s birth.I knew the company couldn’t extend my leave. I put in my papers–I called it a promotion to fatherhood & loved it!" said Joshi.
Joshi and his wife have named their daughter Spiti after the Spiti valley in Himachal Pradesh. Interestingly, on a trip to the valley the parents had decided the name.
