IndiGo Airlines Passenger Hits Pilot Announcing Flight Delay In Delhi. Caught On Cam

A guy in a yellow hoodie suddenly jumped up from the last row and attacked the new pilot, who had replaced the previous crew owing to FDTL standards after many hours of delay.

A passenger on an IndiGo flight violently attacked the plane's pilot as he was issuing a delay announcement. The attack footage has gone viral on social media. A guy in a yellow hoodie suddenly jumped up from the last row and attacked the new pilot, who had replaced the previous crew owing to Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) standards after many hours of delay.

"A passenger punched an Indigo capt in the aircraft as he was making delay announcement. The guy ran up from the last row and punched the new Capt who replaced the previous crew who crossed FDTL. Unbelievable," wrote one user on X while sharing the video.

In response to this incident, Delhi Police stated: "We will take appropriate legal action against the accused," news agency ANI reported.

According to the government sources, the aviation security agency has launched a probe into a viral video in which a passenger struck the captain after an IndiGo aircraft from Delhi to Goa was delayed owing to fog, ANI reported. "The passenger hit the pilot while the pilot was announcing flight delays yesterday at around 1 pm. The passenger is identified as Sahil Kataraia," the sources added.

Following the incident, IndiGo has filed a complaint against the passenger and the process of filing the case is underway.

Speaking with ANI, officials stated: "IndiGo has formed an internal committee to address the incident and has referred the matter to the committee. Actions, including the potential inclusion of passengers on the 'no-fly list' are under consideration as unruly behaviour category."

What Is FDTL?

Flight Duty Time Limitations, or FDTL, are regulations that are critical for safeguarding the safety of pilots and flight attendants by prescribing proper rest hours and minimising fatigue-related safety problems. The Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is responsible for creating FDTL.
