'I Hate Goa'...: Tourist Alleges Assault In Goa Near Madgaon Station, Vows Never To Return

A tourist’s viral post details a shocking assault near Madgaon station in Goa. He alleges local harassment and physical abuse, calling the experience "horrible" and traumatizing.

A man’s visit to Goa took a traumatic turn after he was allegedly assaulted and verbally abused near Madgaon railway station. Sharing his ordeal in a detailed social media post, he claimed that two locals harassed and attacked him over a traffic-related altercation.

In a Reddit post titled “Got physically abused in Goa, will probably never come back,” the man recounted the events leading up to the incident. According to him, he had rented a car for his trip with his girlfriend and was on his way to Madgaon station after dropping her off at the airport.

While driving, he said he apparently "cut" two men on a two-wheeler, although he insisted there was no contact between their vehicles. “No bump, no scratches, our vehicles did not touch, and frankly I didn’t even cut him,” he wrote.

The two men allegedly followed him to the station, blocked his car, and began threatening him. “One guy got off, picked up a stone and threatened to break the windshield if I didn’t open the window,” he claimed. When he complied, he was reportedly punched multiple times while being verbally abused. “The moment I opened it, he punched me straight up. His other friend was just standing and both were abusing me about me being from outside,” he detailed.

The man, who had only a short time left to return his rental car and catch his train, stated that some locals eventually helped him leave the situation. “Finally, some locals helped me leave and I barely was able to return the car and get to the train. This was so horrible I haven’t even processed it fully yet,” he shared.

The distressing experience has left him shaken, with a bitter impression of the tourist hotspot. “I hate Goa now because of this and it has scarred all the good times I had,” he lamented.

Users Reaction to The Post

Although he has expressed his intent to file a police complaint, he admitted that he was unable to capture any footage of the attackers or their vehicle. Authorities have yet to respond to the claims.

The users under the comment section also expressed their response to this incident. As one of the users said, “Exact same feeling. Faced something similar but comparatively a very mild reaction but yes never gonna go to the shitty Goa again as I was the one who used to visit Goa every year. I even posted about this but the mods here deleted it.”

Another one said, “Man ! I am gutted. I have loved Goa since my college days. I visit once every two year. Last I visited was in 2023 and it was a lot of fun. Have things really gotten so bad since ? From what I keep hearing about Goa online, I don't think I will visit anymore.”
