Viral Video: Bride's Mother Calls Off Wedding As Groom, His Friends Show Up Drunk

The mother of the bride chose her daughter's sanity after seeing the chaos that ensued after the groom and his friends turned up drunk.

A Bengaluru mother asking the ‘baraat’ (groom’s party) to leave the venue is going viral on the internet. A wedding day is special for both the bride, groom, and their families.

In the video, the bride’s mother firmly called off the wedding and asked the groom's party, to leave. The drastic decision was prompted by the groom's despicable behaviour as he turned up drunk along with his friends. They created a ruckus in their intoxicated state when they reached the venue.

The final straw was when the groom, threw the 'aarti ki thali' during a ritual. The mother of the bride grew concerned about her daughter's sanity and future, so she chose to cancel the wedding. Despite the groom's side trying to make excuses for the groom and asking to let the two marry, the woman continued to tell the groom's party to leave.

While this is often a hard step to take, she made the choice as she felt these incidents provided enough insight into the groom's character, which the bride's mother did not want for her daughter.

Addressing the groom's side, the mother voiced her concern, pointing out that the groom's behaviour on his wedding day raised serious doubts about the kind of future her daughter would face. She was heard saying, "Abhi se aise tevar hain, toh aage apni beti ke bhavishya ka kya hoga" (If his current behaviour is such, what will be my daughter’s future).

The woman's decision has been praised by many netizens, they say the mother made the right decision by calling off the wedding.

One wrote, “I think the bride's mother is correct in her stand! Hope the groom learns from this loss, reforms himself & moves ahead! Lesson for all is to be aware of own actions & Also, beware of 'such' friends & relatives who can ruin or delay good things coming in your life.”

Another netizen wrote, “Wow, that groom really threw away his chance at happiness along with the aarti plate! 🎉 Guess he thought he was in a Bollywood movie, but his mom-in-law directed the real-life drama!”

A netizen mentioned how calling off weddings has become a thing of the past, “Well done, good to see people actually taking tough stance even if the wedding gets called off … which was the big deal in past ….”

Calling the mother a ‘boss’, a person wrote, “Drunk groom and his rowdy squad thought they could disrespect her daughter's big day? NOPE. She shut down the entire wedding like a BOSS. Respect isn't optional, even on your wedding day”
