Woman Says Bengaluru Would Lose All Glamour If North Indians Leave, Receives Heated Reaction From Netizens

The woman, Sugandh Sharma, in a now-viral video on the social media platform Instagram, claimed that if North Indians actually leave Bengaluru, then the whole city would lose money and people

A digital creator’s video on social media has sparked the debate surrounding Bengaluru and ‘outsiders’ once again. The woman, Sugandh Sharma, in a now-viral video on the social media platform Instagram, claimed that if North Indians actually leave Bengaluru, then the whole city would lose money and people.

Sharma goes by the handle @thesugandhsharma on Instagram and has over 17,000 followers. In a series of reels, she talked about why the migrant population from the north leaving Bengaluru would be a loss for the city. This comes amidst several claims from pro-Kannada groups that the ‘outsider’ population from the Northern part of the country has become a nuisance for the Silicon City.

In the video, Sharma said, “You guys keep saying: 'you northies go back,' if we all really leave Bengaluru, your city would become empty. First, your PGs (paying guest accommodations) would become vacant, you won't get the money you are earning now, all the clubs in Koramangla would become empty. All the pretty girls you see dancing to Punjabi music in these clubs won't be seen anymore. You guys should think before you talk. In case your wish does come true, Bengaluru would lose all its glamour.”

However, many Netizens appear unimpressed with the claims and said that the city would not just survive in the absence of the migrant population, but rather thrive.
