Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao To Inaugurate New Secretariat On April 30
The secretariat, which has been named after father of Indian Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar and built adhering to Vastu principles, will be inaugurated on April 30.
The new building of the Telangana Secretariat is all set to be inaugurated on April 30 and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will start working in his chamber at 1.20 pm the same day, IANS reported.
The secretariat, which has been named after father of Indian Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar and built adhering to Vastu principles, will be inaugurated at 6.08 am on April 30 with various religious rituals.
Designed by Chennai-based architects Ponni Concessao and Oscar Concessao, the complex has been built following Indian Green Building Council norms, fire safety, disaster management, and other mandatory regulations.
The structure has been built in the Indo-Saracenic style, which blends Indo-Islamic architectural features with domes. The multiple domes and arches of the building represent the syncretic and liberal Deccani style, expressing Telangana's quintessence.
The new Secretariat complex, which houses the offices of the Chief Minister, ministers, chief secretary, and all other secretaries and heads of departments, is a seven-storey structure equipped with all modern facilities. It has been constructed at a cost of nearly Rs 650 crore.

The complex will house ancillary buildings for visitors, police personnel, fire department, crèche, utility building, temple, mosque and church. Ample space has been planned for landscaping (hardscape with stone pavements, and softscapes consisting of lawns, native trees, and fountains), and parking for VVIPs, staff and others.
The complex has been constructed with all modern amenities, including conference halls, visitor lounges, dining halls, and others.
The total built-up area of the 265-foot-high main complex is 8,58,530 square feet. The area of the ancillary building is 67,982 square feet. The building has lower ground plus ground plus six floors. Each floor has a height of 14 feet.
According to officials, 7,000 metric tonnes of steel, 35,000 metric tonnes of cement, 26,000 metric tonnes of sand, 60,000 cubic metres of concrete, and 11 lakh bricks have been used for the construction. Three lakh square feet of granite and one lakh square feet of marble have also been used.
As many as 12,000 people worked in three shifts to complete the construction.
The new complex was supposed to be inaugurated on February 17 on CM KCR's birthday. But it was postponed after a massive fire erupted on some floors of the building on February 3 night.
CM Rao had decided to demolish the old Secretariat building as he felt that the layout of various blocks was difficult to be accessed by government officials and common people and was also "unscientific" as it did not conform to Vastu principles, a rpeort in The Indian Express aid. KCR felt that the old Secretariat was unlucky to all his predecessors.
