New Delhi: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday announced Rs 2 crore to boxing champion Nikhat Zareen and shooter Esha Singh each for their heroics at the international level.
The CM further said that the athletes will get lands to construct houses in Hyderabad's prime areas Banjara Hills or Jubilee Hills. Nikhat Zareen, who hails from Telangana's Nizamabad, clinched a gold medal in the 52kg (flyweight) category in the recently concluded Women's World Boxing Championships. Meanwhile, shooter Esha Singh won a gold medal in ISSF Junior World Cup.

TRS MLC K Kavitha, lauding the Telangana champions, tweeted, "We are proud of our champions! Hon'ble CM Sri KCR garu announces Rs 2 crore award and house sites in Hyderabad for our young talents Nikhat Zareen and Esha Singh."
The Telangana champion proved her prowess in boxing to become only the fifth Indian woman boxer champion at Worlds. After her heroics at the international arena, Nikhat revealed her Olympic dream.
On Wednesday, the Telangana boxer shared a snapshot with PM Modi on her Twitter, thanking the Prime Minister. "An honour to meet our Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi sir. Thank you sir," she wrote.
Nikhat first came into the spotlight when she won the youth world championship in 2011 and later pulled off a brilliant show till the quarters of the senior world championship in 2016. Finally, she succeeded in bringing home the glory this year. "My dream, my goal, is to win an Olympic gold medal for my country. I am working hard towards that goal," Indian Express said, quoting Nikhat about her Olympic dream.
