Former Telangana Minister Writes To President Demanding Action Against District Collectors For Touching CM KCR's Feet

Shabbir Ali in his letter stated that Section 3 (ii) of the All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1968 clearly states that 'every member of the Service shall maintain political neutrality'

Hyderabad: Former Minister & ex-Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohd Shabbir Ali on Sunday demanded the Centre take action against two district collectors for touching the feet of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in public. In this regard, the Congress leader also wrote a letter to President Ram Nath Kovind. 

Congress leader, in his letter to President Ram Nath Kovind, wrote, "The Collectors of Siddipet and Kamareddy districts of Telangana, P Venkatarama Reddy, and Dr A Sharath, respectively, have violated the All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1968. Both the District Collectors have publicly touched the feet of the Chief Minister. He was seen doing so during an event organized to launch the District Collectorate Complexes in their respective districts on June 20, 2021."

The former leader of opposition in the Telangana Legislative Council wrote, "He is not only an IAS officer but also a district magistrate. He has sent a wrong message and has set a wrong example by bowing before Chief Minister."

Shabbir Ali in his letter stated that Section 3 (ii) of the All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1968 clearly states that 'every member of the Service shall maintain political neutrality'. The actions of both the district collectors clearly exposed that they were not maintaining political neutrality. Through a letter, he has demanded to take appropriate action against both the district collectors.
