Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao Officially Launches Bharat Rashtra Samiti, Hoists New Party Flag

Chief Minister KCR received a communication from the Election Commission on Thursday approving the change of name of TRS to BRS.

TRS party supremo and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday unfurled the party flag of Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) after the Election Commission approved to change the party's name from Telangana Rashtra Samiti to Bharat Rashtra Samiti.

Chief Minister KCR hoisted the BRS flag at the Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad. Earlier in the day he also signed the papers related to the change in name of TRS. Former Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and several BRS leaders were present on the occasion.

He received a communication from the Election Commission on Thursday approving the change of name of TRS to BRS. In order to broaden its electoral base beyond Telangana, the TRS changed its name to BRS in October but was waiting for an approval from the Election Commission.

Earlier on Friday, the CM participated in the laying of the foundation stone of the Hyderabad Airport Express Metro Corridor.

Speaking at the event, KCR said that there is a need to expand the metro services to all corners of the Hyderabad. "Telangana government will do it irrespective of the help from the centre," he stated.

"Both in terms of population and size, Hyderabad is larger than Delhi. The city first received power in 1912, much earlier than Chennai did in 1927. Hyderabad is a true cosmopolitan city where people of all regions, religions, and classes live together. I appreciate the efforts of the Municipal, HMDA, and the GMR group staff for making this metro project possible," he added

He said that Hyderabad was not properly developed during earlier regimes in undivided Andhra Pradesh but after his party came to power in Telangana, the city has been turned into a "power island" by connecting it with all power generating stations in the state and the national electricity grid, resulting in a continuous power supply.
