Telangana: BRS Leaders To Hold Dharna At All District Headquarters In State Against BJP's Anti-Farmers Policies

MLC Kavitha claimed that the BRS Party is committed to fighting for the BJP's targeted politics that marginalise farmers and the weaker sections.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha called on the party cadre to stage demonstrations in all district headquarters across Telangana on Friday against the centre's anti-farmers policies, in light of the recent demand to exclude agricultural activities from the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) in Telangana.

MLC Kavitha, who is currently on a tour in her constituency Nizamabad, addressed the media on Thursday and said, "The BJP government at the Centre is forcing the Telangana government to take back schemes under MGNREGA, we will hold a Maha Dharna to stand with our farmers."

Kavitha said that "today it is a fact that the BJP is an anti-farmer, anti-poor, and pro-corporate government. On the one hand, the government is targeting farmers and the poor, taxing necessities like milk and curd, and failing to control inflation; on the other hand, the government has written off loans totaling Rs. 8,16,421 crore and Rs. 11,17,883 crore, respectively, over the last six fiscal years."

The daughter of Telangana's Chief Minister said that "the TRS Party has always stood up for farmers, and now the BRS Party will take this vision and mission forward. CM KCR Garu and the entire BRS Party stand with the farmers and poor people of the country".

 Kavitha claimed that the BRS Party is committed to fighting for the BJP's targeted politics that marginalise farmers and the weaker sections.

Meanwhile, BRS working president and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, in a statement on Thursday, asked the BJP-led union government to explain how the construction of crop drying platforms in Telangana under the scheme could be termed against norms when it was justified to construct fish drying platforms in other states.

He criticised the Modi government for stalling the construction of 79,000 crop drying platforms in Telangana, which were taken up at a cost of Rs 750 crore.

The BRS leader claimed that the BJP-led government at the centre is attempting to weaken MGNERGS, which employs thousands of people across the state.He said the Center was imposing curbs on the implementation of the scheme and resorting to cuts in its funds.
