Hyderabad Water Scarcity Not Because Of Nature, But Inefficiency Of Congress: BRS Working President KTR
In Hyderabad, the officials have initiated measures to alleviate the water shortage crisis, including the allocation of Rs 140 crore by the state government for a summer contingency plan.
In the run-up for Lok Sabha Elections 2024, BRS working president KT Rama Rao criticised the Congress, accusing them of creating artificial water scarcity in Hyderabad. Contrasting it with the earlier slogan of BRS "KCR means water and Congress means tears", he blamed Revanth Reddy-led government for diverting projects to Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) leading to a dependence on Delhi for water supply.
Yet, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said, "In 2023 November-December, during elections, we clearly said that KCR means water and Congress means tears. Today water tankers have started appearing all around the city...The water scarcity is not because of nature, it is because of the inefficiency of the Congress. This is an artificial scarcity created because of Congress."

Further, Rao questioned the government's handling of water resources, highlighting discrepancies in water management despite the presence of water in reservoirs and the Kaleswaram project.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao said, "Revanth Reddy govt has given projects to KRMB (Krishna River Management Board). Now if we need water, we have to beg Delhi. They want to portray Kaleswaram as a failed project. When KCR visited Suryapet, how did the Gayatri pump house start? When there was water in reservoirs, why did you hide it? Even when there is water in Kaleswaram, why are you letting the crops dry? Why are you not releasing the water?"
