Heavy Rain Lashes Hyderabad And Parts Of Telangana, Schools To Remain Shut Today
In view of heavy rainfall, the Telangana administration on Tuesday announced that schools will remain shut today.
Heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Telangana on Tuesday, leading to severe waterlogging. The administration has asked schools and other educational institutes to remain shut in view of the forecast of more rainfall in the city, reported news agency PTI. Vehicular movement also took a hit due to the heavy rainfall. Traffic jams were seen on several roads of Hyderabad.

The India Meteorological Department on Monday said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Telangana, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala from September 4 to 6. As for the Northeast, according to the weather prediction, mild to moderate scattered to moderately widespread rainfall and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy rainfall likely over Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are expected from Saturday to Sunday.
In the eastern regions, mild to moderate moderately widespread to widespread rains, thunderstorms, and lightning are expected. The weather agency added that isolated heavy rain is expected in Gangetic West Bengal on Sunday and in Odisha till September 6.
Senior Scientist of IMD Bhubaneswar Uma Shankar Das while talking to ANI said, "Widespread rainfall can occur in the next 48 hrs...Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected to occur in parts of North Odisha...Five districts are warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall: Dhenkanal, Angul, Kalahandi, Boudh, and Kandhamal...People have been warned to take safe shelter during lightning and thunderstorms...People should stay away from trees and water bodies."
