Facebook App's Dark Mode On iPhones Is Disappearing: Know Everything

Facebook has stopped staying in dark mode for iPhones globally and several iPhone users have raised the issue on Twitter about the Facebook app reverting to light mode on iPhones. The issue seems to be affected iPhone users who had updated their devices with the latest iOS update post which the Facebook app encountered a glitch and did not stay on dark mode.
"We've updated the app to fix some crashes and make features load faster," the social networking giant said in a release note.
Facebook had rolled out version 379.0, the latest update for the iOS app, which was reportedly supposed to fix some crashes and make features load faster, but ended up sending the Facebook app to light mode, said a report by The Sun. Dark mode swaps white and other bright colours for darker tones and black, which not only puts less strain on your eyes but can save battery as well.
Facebook app's dark mode disappearing for iOS platform is not new. Earlier in May, Facebook's dark mode interface for iOS platform reportedly disappeared for several users. To recall, 9to5Mac had reported that the dark mode option in Facebook for iOS has disappeared without explanation. While it was also said to be due to a bug, Meta-owned Facebook did not acknowledge the issue.
What this means is that not only will Facebook no longer respect your system-wide dark mode preferences, but there's also no option to manually enable dark mode directly in the Facebook app, the report said.
It is not a major bug, but it can make for a rather jarring visual inconsistency particularly when you have system-wide dark mode enabled on your iPhone or iPad. System-wide dark mode support was rolled out to iOS as part of the release of iOS 13 in 2019. However, the tech giant's support for dark mode did not actually launch until late June of 2020, a full year after Apple announced iOS 13 with dark mode as a headlining feature.
