UIDAI Launches Aadhaar Mitra: Know About AI-Based Chatbot, How To Use It & Other Details

UIDAI chatbot 'Aadhaar Mitra', powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning, will address Aadhaar-based queries such as tracking Aadhaar PVC status, registering and complaints etc

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched a new AI-powered chatbot to help citizens with their queries related to Aadhaar. The chatbot dubbed as 'Aadhaar Mitra', is powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning will address Aadhaar-based queries such as tracking Aadhaar PVC status, registering and complaints etc.

With Open AI's ChatGPT gaining the limelight, chatbot services are becoming the default choice for businesses.  

 Announcing the new AI digital assistance, UIDAI's tweeted saying, "#ResidentFirst #UIDAI's New AI/ML based chat support is now available for better resident interaction! Now Residents can track #Aadhaar PVC card status, register & track grievances etc. To interact with #AadhaarMitra, visit- https://uidai.gov.in/en/."

The tweet also attached a poster highlighting a QR code that residents can scan to try out the new Aadhaar Mitra AI. The QR code contains the link to the official UIDAI website where the chatbot - Aadhaar Mitra is live.

What is Aadhaar Mitra?

"This chatbot is trained to respond to the resident's queries and aimed at improving the resident's experience," according to the FAQ section of the UIDAI Chatbot.

"Aadhaar Chatbot is well trained to answer queries on Aadhaar related topics, provide information about Locate Aadhaar Center, Check Aadhaar Enrolment/ Update status, Check PVC Card Order status, File a Complaint, Check Complaint status, Locate Enrolment Center, Book An Appointment", the UIDAI's website stated.

Now, users are not required to visit the Aadhaar enrollment centre to update card anymore. It can be done through the chatbot. They can also apply for a duplicate Aadhaar if the original is lost.

How to use Aadhaar Mitra?

"Resident can simply type his query in Chatbot and get the desired answers immediately," UIDAI says.

Go to www.uidai.gov.in

Firstly click on the "Aadhaar Mitra" box in the bottom right corner.

The chatbot will open saying, "Hi, I am your Aadhaar Mitra. How May I help you!!"

Then tap on "Get Started" to ask the query.

Then go to the search box, then type the query and click on the Enter button. The chatbot will reply with the answer. Also, you can click on the suggested query option available at the top.

You can also give feedback on the answers.

"After every answer given by Aadhaar Chatbot, there is a Thumbs Up/Thumbs down icon below every chat response. Also, after the end of the session, on closing the window resident can provide a star rating (on a scale of 1 to 5). Residents can give feedback which shall be duly analyzed collectively by the UIDAI concerned team from time to time," UIDAI says.
