Two Die As Building Collapses At Chennai's NSC Bose Road
The 100-year-old dilapidated building is suspected to have collapsed due to the incessant rains.
Chennai: Two persons died while two others suffered injuries after a portion of the building collapsed on NSC Bose Road in Chennai on Friday. After the downpour on Friday evening, a portion of a 100-year-old building collapsed in the city.
According to ANI, Chennai Police officials said, "Death toll in Chennai building collapse rises to two.”
“Fire Service persons rescued the wounded persons and were involved in clearing the debris. Chennai Police said.

The Fire and Rescue services took the injured to RGGGH for treatment.
The deceased were identified as U Gangudevi of Sowcarpet, a 61-year-old flower vendor and Venkatesh of Perumbakkam, a 36-year-old carpenter by profession. While the former died on the spot, the latter died of injuries at Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital, said a report on The New Indian Express.
The injured are S Sivakumar of Vyasarpadi and S Sarvananan of Madhavaram who are currently undergoing treatment.
The building was reportedly used to store vegetables and fruits.

After the mishap, Tamil Nadu HR&CE Minister PK Sekar Babu visited the spot and ascertained the situation. He also then visited the hospital and the injured.
According to The New Indian Express Sekar Babu said, "The city corporation had issued notice to the building owner to vacate and demolish the infrastructure. The place had 11 shops earlier."
However, a case is pending in the court since four vendors who were owning the shop approached the court to remain in the same building. The government also could not demolish the building due to the pending case in the court, he said.
