TN Govt To Bear Educational Expenses Of Govt Students Selected Through 7.5% Quota: CM MK Stalin

The Chief Minister congratulating the students said, “All of you are going to the next phase of your life so you all should get good jobs and soon become entrepreneurs who give jobs to others.”

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday announced that the state will bear the educational expenses of students who secure admission in the newly created 7.5 per cent quota for professional courses. The recently formed DMK government passed a law to provide a 7.5 per cent quota in engineering admissions to students who studied in government schools from Class 6 to 8.

During the event to hand over the allotment letter for the first batch of the students, MK Stalin said, "The aim of the government is to provide equal access in education for all. Even children studying in government schools should join big institutions and so do rural students."

"The DMK has also been working with this aim whenever we form the government. Even earlier as entrance exams were a barrier for MBBS and BE education, the then CM Karunanidhi abolished the entrance exams. Even today we are fighting against NEET," he said.

Further, Stalin said that he was the news before coming to the event and he saw that some of the students were saying that they are worried about finishing their BE course received with the help of the quota due to the financial crisis in their families.

Hence, stating that the Tamil Nadu government will listen to the problems of the people and address them, the Chief Minister said, “From now the students need not worry since the government will bear the education expenses, hostel expenses and even the counselling expenses for those students who got selected through 7.5 per cent reservation.”

Congratulating the students, the Chief Minister also said, “All of you are going to the next phase of your life so you all should get good jobs and should soon become entrepreneurs who give jobs to others.”
