Tamil Nadu: Woman Harassed On Moving Bus Pricks Molester With Safety Pin, Gets Him Arrested
The man has been remanded into custody till April 2.
Chennai: A woman who faced harassment on a moving bus at night pricked the molester with a safety pin and handed him over to police in Tamil Nadu.
According to a report on Indian Express, a woman advocate of Madras High Court was traveling on a bus from Chennai to Vellore at 10 pm on April 1 when a man seated behind her suddenly slid his hand through the gap between the seats. He then touched her inappropriately. Initially, the woman tried to make him get off his hand but he tried to do it again.
The woman immediately recorded a video of the incident for proof and pricked him with a safety pin. She then started to confront him but the molester hurled abusive words against her.
The remaining passengers told the woman to make him get off the bus and to continue the journey. However, the woman said that a few minutes of delay would not cost any loss and demanded them to stand by her for registering a police complaint.

The woman then took him to the police. Ramesh Babu, Assistant Commissioner of police at Koyambedu said, Raghavan of Krishnagiri was arrested under sections including assault or criminal force against women of IPC and Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act.
The man was then remanded into custody till April 2.
The woman lawyer urged the government to appoint conductors on point-to-point buses in order to ensure the safety of women and told women to come forward and report against the abusers.
