Tamil Nadu Will Hold Global Investors Meet By End Of 2022, Says CM Stalin

The CM also explained the reason why the state government hiked property tax across the state.

Chennai: Global Investors Meet will be held in Tamil Nadu by end of 2022, said Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin on Wednesday. The CM also said that 130 MoUs were signed since the formation of DMK-led government 10 months back and Rs 6,100 crore investments were attracted towards the state in Dubai.

Addressing the Assembly under Rule 110 on Wednesday, CM Stalin said, “By the end of 2022, we will conduct Global Investors Meet in Tamil Nadu and I appeal to all to cooperate with the government's initiative without any difference.”

The CM also explained the reason why the state government hiked property tax across the state.

Stalin said, the government did not whole-heartedly implement the tax hike.

He said, “Earlier, the local body polls were not held and all the schemes were stagnant. The civic officials were also not able to implement any new schemes. However, now local body representatives have been appointed. So after the elections, people expect the elected representatives to implement the schemes.”

“That’s why we have segregated the homes as per area (sq ft) for the first time for the implementation of property tax.  As per the new norm, the increase in tax will not majorly affect 82% of the people,” he said.

The statement of TN CM Stalin comes after AIADMK locked horns with DMK over the property tax hike.
