Tamil Nadu: Tour Companies Try To Capitalise On Hype Around Ponniyin Selvan, Announces Packages

The tour package will cover places mentioned in the novel including Melkadambur, Pazhuvur and Thanjavur. 

Chennai: Amid the buzz surrounding the release of Mani Ratnam's historic ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ movie by the end of the month, tour companies have decided to capitalise on the trend and announced multiple tour packages tracing the heritage places mentioned in the movie. Ponniyin Selvan is also an already famed novel written by 'Kalki' Krishnamurthy and it covers the journey of Vandhiyathevan in the places ruled by the Cholas. 

According to a report in Times of India, Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) has announced a three-day tour package to places mentioned in the novel including Melkadambur, Pazhuvur and Thanjavur. 

TTDC Managing Director Sandeep Nanduri said, for the first tour that begins next week we have got bookings from 25 people and we are aiming to do the trip once a week.

Another private tour company, Heritage Inspired The Spy's Trail, announced a trip that is set to start from the banks of Veeranarayana lake just like the begining of Vandhiyathevan's journey.

Heritage Inspired's founder Anand Rajarathinam said, we have been doing the trip since 2017. However, this year, we have got trip booking even from people of Bengaluru, Mumbai and Pune.

The trail also focuses to showcases the architecture, culture, administration of Chola Kings, war and even organise small skits to provide the travelers with an enriching experience.

Meanwhile, Ponniyin Selvan movie starring Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Vikram, Karthi, Jeyaram and Jayam Ravi is set to release on September 30. The trailer launch of the event was held in a grand manner early this week and the event was attended by Superstar Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Aishwarya Rai among others.
