Chennai: With the increase in H3N2 virus cases across India, Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian announced that 1000 medical camps will be conducted on March 10 across the state from 9 AM. He also said that ICMR has advised to follow COVID treatment protocol for those with the infection.

“H3N2 virus cases are raising all over India. Fever continues for 3-4 days. State Health Dept has adequate stock of medicines. People should not fear this spread. ICMR has advised to follow Covid protocols for this new virus fever,” he said.

H3N2 is an influenza A virus that causes respiratory viral infection every year.

A former AIIMS Delhi Director Randeep Guleria said that people especially elders and patients with comorbidities should be careful from influenza since the festive season is just around the corner, said a report on India Today.

Meanwhile, recent data from Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)showed that H3N2 has been in wide circulation for the last two-three months. ICMR said that about half of all inpatients, admitted for severe acute respiratory infections (SARI), as well as outpatients being treated for influenza-like illness, are found to have influenza A H3N2. The ICMR also advised medical practitioners to give only symptomatic treatment as there is no need for antibiotics, as per IANS.
