Tamil Nadu: Three Persons In Tiruchy Arrested For Selling Two-Month-Old Baby For Rs 80,000
The couple has five children with the eldest being a 15-year-old and the last kid being the newborn baby.
Chennai: Three persons, including the father of a two-month-old male baby, were arrested in connection with the sale of the baby for Rs 80,000 on Monday. The police arrested the three persons based on the complaint of the baby’s mother against her husband and two others.
The father went on to sell the baby since he incurred huge debts due to gambling.
Kairunisha married Abdul Salam more than 15 years ago and they are residing in Woraiyur'es East Pandamnagalam. The couple has five children with the eldest being a 15-year-old and the last kid being the newborn baby, reports New Indian Express.

Salam does not have a job and he got habituated to gambling. Later, he exhausted all his money and borrowed money from money lender Santhanakumar for gambling. In the years, he lost all the money to gambling and his total sum with interest amounted to Rs 80,000.
Therefore, he decided to sell their child to his relative Arokiyaraj without the consent of his wife for Rs 80,000 for settling the debt.
He gave the baby away on January 19 following which Kairunisha gave a complaint to the police on January 23. Kairunisha gave a complaint against her husband and two others for their involvement in the sale of her child.
Based on the complaint, the police arrested Salam, Sanathanakumar and Arokiyaraj under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act. The baby was rescued from Arokiyaraj and was handed over to the mother.
